There’s an analogy I love to use in life: much like thermodynamics, nothing you do is ever “wasted” in the grand scheme of things - it is only transformed into something else, whether you are aware of it or not.
Example: you accidentally burn yourself on a stove. You lose comfort, but you gain risk management.
Something I find myself doing is self-reflecting at what captivates my mind in the 86,400 seconds of a day, and isolating common variables - why do I do this thing or like this thing?
I’m traveling right now across the world right now following a wedding, and an idea came to me: I’m solo. That being said, why shouldn’t I be able to share in the experiences selectively with someone? Could I find someone at my destination to hang out with for a day or more?
So I scratched together Dumb Luck Travel (dumblucktravel.com) on a train ride - personal visceral experience combined with serendipitous desire and a bit of clever naming.

It’s something I wish existed for me, and maybe it’s not in its highest form right now, but it represents a solidified, concretized artifact of my attention and desires.
This, I think, is what people call taste when it comes to building products and distribution channels for them. They most literally convert how they’ve lived into a product or service - it’s among the most authentic and deepest versions of someone’s contributions to the world.
I’ll keep expanding on DLT as I travel, and keep the 86,400 analysis ongoing - if you know any world travelers, I’d really love and appreciate some feedback, or just forward this email on.
As always, be well.
